Suspected Bohemia Dark Web Admins Arrested by Dutch and Irish Authorities

🚨 Arrest of Suspected Bohemia Dark Web Marketplace Admins |
Two alleged administrators of the dark web marketplace Bohemia have been arrested, according to the Dutch National Police. A 20-year-old British man was taken into custody at Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport in June and appeared in a Rotterdam court this week. Another suspect, 23-year-old Irishman Kevin Daniel Andrei, was arrested in August by the Garda National Cyber Crime Bureau (GNCCB).

💰 Seizure of Virtual Assets | During the arrests, more than €8 million ($8.75 million) in virtual assets were seized, police reported. Bohemia and its sister market, Cannabia, have been under investigation since late 2022, with several servers located in the Netherlands.

📊 Bohemia and Cannabia Operations | Established in 2021, the marketplaces primarily sold drugs, focusing on cannabis products, along with a few listings for exploits and malware, according to Searchlight Cyber. As of September 2023, Bohemia had €12 million in transactions, processing around 67,000 transactions per month.

💻 Exit Scam and Shutdown | The Bohemia marketplace went offline at the end of 2022 after administrators allegedly conducted an “exit scam,” stealing users’ funds. The site now displays a seizure notice from law enforcement agencies.

🌍 International Efforts to Tackle Cybercrime | This law enforcement operation is part of a larger effort to combat cybercrime. Earlier this year, German authorities shut down the infrastructure of another dark web marketplace, Nemesis, four months after seizing Kingdom Market.
